The hidden treasure from The Hague Passage is coming back to life. In 2022, the found hats were previously on display in De Passage. Due to the enormous interest, it was decided to hang them up again. The hats can therefore be admired again in De Passage this September.
In 2020, in the vacant space above the former hat store Ladies Paradise in De Passage, a batch of as many as 3,000 hats was discovered. After the store closed in 1998, these hats were left behind in the attic. In 2022, The Hague-based designer Pink Steenvoorden of Einstein Design created the installation Chapeau! An installation in which many hats playfully dance in the monumental space. An ode to hats and the history of De Passage. The hat store Ladies Paradise was founded in 1961 by Otto De Klijn. At that time, hats were mainly something for fancy occasions. Several members of parliament, Queen Juliana and Queen Beatrix came to Ladies Paradise for their hats.
In 2022, many visitors have already seen the hats at Einstein Design’s mobile installation. By popular demand, they will return. This year the hats of Ladies Paradise can be admired again from September 3rd to 30th in honor of the Royal September program at The Hague
