The City Mall of The Hague
The area of De Passage that has been built in 2014 creates a high-quality path between the Spuistraat with its many specialist shops and the Grote Marktstraat, which is home to most of the large-scale shops and department stores, which has always been an attractive shopping area. The project developed in collaboration with AM RED comprises 10,500 m² of retail space divided over three floors and a Suite Novotel with 118 rooms. De Passage has the appearance of a light, open and transparent building with a glass roof. The facade on Grote Marktstraat is made out of traditional Dutch ceramic tiling in white and blue, provided with a double-sided screen with ambient effect. It offers an extra dimension to the shopping experience of De Passage
Shopping Heritage of The Netherlands
The Hague’s famous Arcade (Passage in Dutch) was built by local dignitaries between 1882 and 1885 for the express purpose of ‘high-class shopping’ in imitation of Paris. The Netherlands’ oldest shopping arcade is not only still intact – it is flourishing. Nestled among passageways, glass atria, pedestrian bridges and chiselled façades, you will find 20 boutique stores, bustling food & drink establishments, and even a hotel. With elements of both the past and the present. Indoors, stately, and stunningly beautiful.
