DEN HAAG – After many years of vacancy, a very special place in The Hague is getting its original function back. The now vacant spaces above the stores in the Haagse Passage will become homes again. The renovation has already started and the first apartments will be delivered in the course of this year. ‘You will soon be able to live here uniquely with allure,’ predicts Gert Jan Smit of the Hague developer SENS Real Estate.
The Passage celebrated its anniversary two years ago in modest silence because of Corona. The oldest existing shopping center in the Netherlands celebrated its 135th anniversary. In a book published at the time, it is clearly recalled: the stores originally had close relationships with the floors above them.
