De Passage, the oldest covered shopping area in the Netherlands, proudly announces the completion of the renovation and transformation of its first residential units. Starting from mid-June, the high-end apartments named Residence De Passage in this historic building have been delivered, and the keys have been handed over to the tenants.
At the time of its establishment in 1885, it was common for shopkeepers to reside above their own shops in De Passage, The Hague. However, over time, these spaces were primarily used for storage or left vacant. With the aim of restoring the former glory of De Passage and revitalizing the city center, a.s.r. real estate (on behalf of owner ASR Dutch Prime Retail Fund) in collaboration with SENS real estate BV, Kentie + Partners, Studio ID+, and others, developed a plan to reintegrate living spaces into this iconic building.
Over the past months, the (initial) vacant spaces have undergone extensive renovations and have been transformed into high-quality furnished apartments under the name Residence De Passage. In cooperation with the municipality of The Hague and, among others, Lutz Real Estate, a concept has been created to cater to the growing demand for inner-city living for diverse target groups.
The apartments, ranging from approximately 35 m² to 50 m², are practical, stylishly furnished, and energy-efficient (A-label). The attractive surroundings offer a contemporary living experience with numerous recreational opportunities right in the heart of The Hague.
The completion of these apartments marks an important milestone in the history of De Passage. This national monument, with its rich heritage, has added a new chapter to its existence.
